Application settings

You can manage Database Compare Suite application settings

  1. Click Settings in the Project panel at the top left hand corner of the window.

  2. General settings for the Database Compare Suite application are located at the Application tab.

    It’s divided into two blocks – Operations and Projects.

  3. In the Operations block you can manage the following parameters:

    • Set the percent of data to move for Data migration (limited to 10% in the trial version and can be modified only in full version of the application);

    • Specify the number of data rows that are being displayed on page in the Data tab in the preview of the table content mode;

    • Enter row buffer size for Detailed data comparison. This buffer is used only for pairs of tables or views, where some sorting key columns have string types and different collations are detected;

    • Change the maximum number of digits in numbers that are displayed in a standard form. All numbers where the number of digits exceeds the limit will be displayed in the exponential form.

    • Set the maximum number of connections to process data and for metadata loading (both values can be set between 1 and 20);

    • Specify the number of allowed errors per operation with data object pair. This allows you to continue the operation until the number of occurred errors doesn’t exceed the limit (if you set the limit to zero, operation will never stop, regardless of the number of errors in the process).

    • Add a reference to the stylesheet document with the exported result. This allows to display the result of export in a user-friendly format. It can be used only in the Schema comparison operation, when the result is exported to the XML file;

    • Switch off the exact progress bar that is displayed during Data comparison, Data synchronization and Data migration operations.

    This option helps to increase performance for tables with a large number of rows. If this setting is checked, you can only see the number of row that is currently being processed.

  4. In the Projects block, you can manage the following parameters:

    • Specify the default path where the projects will be saved. It can be entered manually or picked up from the directories tree (if a button with three dots is pressed);

    • Set the maximum number of recent projects that are displayed in the main window or clear history of recently open projects (to do so, just click the Clear history button );

    • Let the Database Compare Suite application automatically load the latest stored project during launch;

    • Save user defined positions of panels.

    • Set the maximum number of connections to process data and for metadata loading (both values can be set between 1 and 20);

    • Specify the number of allowed errors per operation with data object pair. This allows you to continue the operation until the number of occurred errors doesn’t exceed the limit (if you set the limit to zero, operation will never stop, regardless of the number of errors in the process).

    • Add a reference to the stylesheet document with the exported result. This allows to display the result of export in a user-friendly format. It can be used only in the Schema comparison operation, when the result is exported to the XML file;

    • Switch off the exact progress bar that is displayed during Data comparison, Data synchronization and Data migration operations.

  5. Click the Save button at the bottom of the windows to save all the changes you’ve made to the application settings. Otherwise, click the Cancel button to abandon changes.

  6. You can set the default values for all settings by pressing the Reset All button
