Schema comparison

You can compare two database objects in the selected database platforms under specified scope. Here’s how it works:

  1. Create a new project or open an existing one.

  2. Define the operation scope by choosing the desired nodes on metadata trees.

  3. Click the Compare button in the Schema Operations panel.

  4. Click the Matching button to proceed to the matching page. Here you can adjust objects matching if needed. Otherwise, click the Tree branches button at the bottom left-hand corner of the central window if you need to get back to the node selection operation.

  5. Click the Options button at the bottom right-hand corner of the central window. You will get to the Schema comparison options page.

  6. After picking up the desired options, click Run button at the bottom right-hand corner of the central window to get the result. Otherwise, click the Matching button at the bottom left-hand corner of the central window if you need to get back to the matching page.

  7. Below you can explore the differences in details on the Difference tab.

  8. Switch to the SQL tab to explore the differences in the SQL code of the compared objects.

    • Check the Ignore spaces option to ignore multiple spaces in the SQL code of compared objects.

    • Check the Case sensitive option to compare objects with case sensitivity.

    • Check the Ignore empty lines option to ignore empty lines in the SQL code of compared objects.

    • Check the Show all characters option to display hidden formatting symbols in the compared objects.

  9. Click the Restart button at the bottom of the central window to restart the schema comparison operation using the same scope, matching rules, and preferences, while reloading data and metadata from the databases.

  10. Click the Export button at the bottom right-hand corner of the central window to save the comparison result to the .xml file.

  11. Click the Close button at the top right-hand corner of the central window to close the schema comparison result window.
