Connecting to a MySQL database

Use the following procedure to connect to your MYSQL database.

  1. Click on the New icon in the Project panel at the top left corner of the window.

  2. SelectMySQL in the Platform drop-down list at the top of the dialog box.

  3. Select the Standard option in the Mode drop-down list if you would like to connect to the MYSQL database in the standard mode.

    • Specify Server name in the appropriate field. You can enter it manually or choose it from the drop-down list (if it has been used already).

    • Provide the rest of connection information to the MySQL database: Server Port and Username. You can manually enter these values or select them from drop-down lists.

    • Enter Password to complete the information about MySQL database connection.

    • Press the Test button to verify that you can successfully connect to your MySQL database.

  4. Select the Connection String option in the Mode drop-down list if you would like to connect to MySQL database using special connection string.

    • Enter Connection string manually or select it from the drop-down list (if it has been used already).

    • The required parameters for correct functioning of the Database Compare Suite application when using connection string to connect to MySQL database are listed in the table below:

      Parameter Description
      convertzerodatetime=True Eliminates errors while reading unallowable values of date or datetime columns
      treattinyasboolean=False The False value of this property causes to treat TINYINT (1) as an INT
      allowuservariables=True The True value of this property indicates that the provider expects user variables in the SQL
    • Please make sure that all these parameters are added into the connection string, otherwise data operations may work incorrectly.

    • Press the Test button to verify that you can successfully connect to your MySQL database.
