The support for Amazon DynamoDB

Database Compare Suite now allows you to work Amazon DynamoDB and Apache Cassandra. With Database Compare Suite 4.14, you can connect to Amazon DynamoDB databases.

Database Compare Suite 4.14 New Project

You can compare data between Amazon DynamoDB and any other supported database platform. Currently, Database Compare Suite supports 16 database platforms. Be sure to check the official Database Compare Suite 4.14 product page to see the full list of supported databases.

The schema operations are available only for a pair of Amazon DynamoDB databases.

Amazon DynamoDB limitations

Database Compare Suite does not support Amazon DynamoDB tables with composite partition key. That is because we utilize the standard .NET provider to access the data in Amazon DynamoDB. However, we plan to change this approach in the upcoming versions, so that you can operate with tables with composite partition key.

Other limitations include:

  • You can’t use Amazon DynamoDB as the source for data migration or synchronization
  • Database Compare Suite uses all columns of the Amazon DynamoDB database, even if these columns are not displayed in the metadata tree of the application
  • Amazon DynamoDB schema includes only columns of keys and indexes

Other improvements

Database Compare Suite 4.14 provides users with the ability to use SSL to establish a secure connection to Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases. In addition to that, you can now specify whether the driver can trust the server certificate when connecting to the Microsoft SQL Server database using TLS.

Also, we updated the setting of the schema operations. With this release, you can ignore column default values and parameter default values in schema operations. Finally, Database Compare Suite now works correctly with an abstract SET data type.

Be sure to check the release history page to learn more about other bug fixes and improvements.

Free download

Database Compare Suite proves to be a valuable and helpful tool for all DBAs and developers who manage multiple database instances. You can download the free trial version of the application from the Database Compare Suite page.
