DB Best Technologies was established at 2002 in Santa Clara, CA with the goal to develop database migration tools and provide migration services. Its main product, DB Best Migration Suite, was released in 2003 at PASS in Seattle. It allowed to convert Oracle databases to SQL Server (including conversion of PL/SQL to T-SQL). Hundreds of customers used the tool and after just a few months it became the main migration tool that Microsoft was recommending to their customers.
Microsoft acquired the technology of DB Best in January 2005. The product got a new name — SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA). DB Best continues developing and supporting SSMA for Microsoft. There are four tools currently available: SSMA for Oracle, Sybase, Access, and PowerBuilder. SSMA is free and can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/sql/migration.
Today DB Best is the leader in database and application migrations to SQL Server. It provides migration services to customers who decided to switch to SQL Server from other databases (Oracle, Sybase, Access, DB2, Informix, MySQL). With over 90 software and database engineers DB Best is involved in migrations covering multiple industries and geographies — Sybase-to-SQL migrations for Financial Services customers in New York, London, and Hong Kong; Oracle-to-SQL migrations for Telecom and Retail customers in California, France, Germany, and Japan; Access-to-SQL migrations for Banking industry customers in Canada and Brazil; etc.
Over the years DB Best team expanded its service and product offerings. Besides database migration services, DB Best provides today a wide range of software development and consulting services in the area of web2.0, business applications, mobile software and database services.
DB Best headquarters are in Bellevue, WA. It also has an office in Israel serving EMEA customers, and its own development center in Kharkov, Ukraine.
