The DB Best Database Migration Life Cycle defines all of the major steps in the database migration process.
The DB Best Migration Lifecycle Suite automates every one of these steps. It provides comprehensive assessment reports; one-click conversion of all schema and data; one-click conversion of almost all database-resident business logic; as well as automated testing of the converted code. All of these capabilities are made available from within our state-of-the-art migration IDE.
In addition to the tool suite, the DB Best Runtime Query Converter is a runtime module that allows you to run your host or mid-tier Oracle applications against MS SQL Server without modification.
Assess the Migration Project with the DB Best Migration Analyzer: Provides quantitative & qualitative assessment. The set of reports provided by the platform allows the user, project manger or decision maker to evaluate the project complexity, size and cost. Simply choose the statistics you want and they are conveniently presented to the user. The statistics provided by the DB Best Migration Analyzer include the total number of database objects, lines of code, estimated conversion complexity, estimated amount of manual work among many others. These statistics can be viewed in the GUI or saved into an external file in Excel-compliant format, thereby enabling the user to work with this data offline.
Migrate the Schema & Data with the DB Best Schema and Data Migrator: Migrates the schema and data. Converts all the tables, indexes, constraints and defaults with one click. Migrates the Oracle-based data to SQL Server.
Convert the SQL Code with the DB Best SQL Converter: Converts the DBMS-based business logic. Converts all database objects: stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, packaged procedures, packaged functions, and sequences with one click. Provides context sensitive warnings and output messages. The conversion engine encapsulates our patent-pending technology that represents by far the most complete PL/SQL to T-SQL conversion capabilities on the market.
Test the Migrated Database with the DB Best Migration Tester: Tests the converted code. Tests all converted database objects: stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, packaged procedures and packaged functions against the original, Oracle-based code. Using automatically generated data sets, the platform verifies that the behavior of the converted code is identical to that of the original code, flagging those code objects that don’t conform.
Convert the Application with the DB Best Runtime Query Converter: Converts SQL queries on the fly. This runtime component dynamically converts SQL queries emitted from Oracle applications from PL/SQL to T-SQL and redirects the query from Oracle to SQL Server. This patent-pending technology completely eliminates the need to rewriteapplications, and it works equally well for both static and dynamic SQL, and supports ODBC-, JDBC-, and OLEDB-based applications.
DB Best Migration IDE – integrates the above products into a common framework.
Our migration IDE provides the user with an intuitive GUI and numerous important features, including: simultaneous browsing of the source and destination databases, the conversion status each object, a synchronized view into the structure of the original and converted objects, and many others. For example, the IDE enables the user to check the results of automatic conversion by using the Zebra Visualization Tool to make correlated comparisons of any Oracle component with its converted counterpart. In addition, as an aid to tracking and quantifying the conversion project, the user can run reports at any time to see the current status.
