Microsoft Acquires DB Best

Microsoft has acquired DB Best, one of the leading providers of database migration tools. The DB Best family of database migration tools will become a part of SQL Server Migration Assistant—a set of tools to help customers automate the migration of their applications from other databases to SQL Server. DB Best technology will be one of the cornerstones of the SQL Server migration strategy, and a phenomenal asset for customers who want to gain the benefits of moving to SQL Server.

Many customers have successfully used DB Best in their migration projects. DB Best tools have regularly achieved up to 99 percent conversion of database objects such as stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions. Additionally, DB Best tools provide detailed statistics necessary for project planning, including which manual conversion might be required.

Register to Participate in the SQL Server Migration Assistant Beta Program

Microsoft is pleased to announce a beta version of SQL Server Migration Assistant for Oracle. To access the SQL Server Migration Assistant beta:

Visit the Microsoft Betaplace Web site.
Log in using your Passport account (if you do not have one, create one).
If you are not a registered Betaplace user, you will get a Guest ID screen. Enter the following Guest ID (case sensitive): SSMA_test1.
If you are a registered Betaplace user, you will go to a different screen than in Step 3. Go to the Guest ID and enter the same Guest ID as in Step 3.
Click the "SQL Server Migration Assistant" Beta program link.
Follow the instructions on the SQL Server Migration Assistant page for completing the survey.
